3D and 4D Ultrasounds
A 3D ultrasound shows a three-dimensional picture of your baby, and a 4D ultrasound gives the added dimension of time, allowing you to see your baby’s movements. 3D/4D ultrasound is not used for diagnostic purposes. It is used to promote the bonding experience between mother, father and baby, and also allow siblings and other family members to share a sense of closeness with the baby. The best time to schedule this 3D ultrasound is 30 weeks. It may be helpful to drink plenty of water for a few days before your appointment to ensure ample amount of clear amniotic fluid, which will help to enhance your baby’s image.
Statesboro OB/GYN Specialists will make all efforts to get the best possible images of the baby. We can't guarantee you that the images will be the same to those you may have seen somewhere else. Every ultrasound is different based on the gestational age, position, amount of fluid, placental location (or location of body parts that may interfere with views of the face or other body parts). Although we always try our best, we cannot guarantee that we will always meet everyone’s expectations.
